Black and White Line Drawing - The Diner

The diner is definitely in my top for the favourites of what I've created so far in idea because it was the first time I'd ever used ink before and to be honest I was a little nervous when I first started because it's a process that if you make a mistake you can't really come back from it, but as I was creating the piece I found myself really enjoying inking and I felt super happy with the results of it even if I know that there's definitely room for improvement. I also just love the atmosphere of the piece in general and I really enjoyed drawing the cranky old lady and the waitress who hates her job.

Self Portrait, Opposite Self - Cloud

The next piece that I made that I really enjoyed was my cloud self-portrait, which was part of the portraits beyond the present project and was the imagining your opposite-self part. The general idea for this piece was to explore yourself as a different version of you, and I had a lot of fun experimenting with different sketches for this project. For this piece, I decided to portray myself as a cloud, just kind of breezing through life without any worries. The mediums I used were inking and a light wash of watercolour.

First Year Highlights

My first highlight of the year would probably have to be the general learning experience in idea. From the advice and the projects that the professors give us to the feedback from my classmates, idea has definitely impacted my life and has genuinely inspired me in so many different ways.

Another one of my highlights for the year was getting to experiment with new types of mediums and trying stuff that I wouldn't have even thought to explore before.

My last highlight for the year would definitely have to be seeing my gradual improvement throughout the year and the want to keep improving that comes along with that feeling of accomplishment.
