Landscape in Gouache/Watercolour

This painting was completed for IDES 131, the task was to use an original photo that we have taken ourselves and illustrate a foreground, midground and background in gouache/watercolour.  This painting was very important for me as it was my first painting, I had never taken a formal art class before so it was such an amazing feeling to produce a piece of art I was proud of all while learning so many new skills.  The landscape I chose is a photo of a beach in Maui that is very important to my family.

“Swissted” - Tame Impala Band gig poster

This poster was completed for IDES 142. The purpose of this project was to make a band poster in the Swiss/International Typographic style.  The poster, although appearing simple, was a bit of a struggle for me as I had to keep it clean to fit the style when I was quite tempted to keep adding.

First Year Highlights

Although very challenging, I really appreciated the projects we were given throughout this year. I was forced out of my comfort zone and learned so many new skills, I am very grateful to have had these learning opportunities.

A personal highlight for me was making friends in my class that share similar interests and goals as me!  It is so amazing to work alongside so many talented people along with giving each other critique and support.

I really enjoyed hearing our instructor’s experiences in their different industries and their stories on how they fell in love with design/illustration.  I also found them explaining personal experiences in how they have gotten to where they are now very inspiring!
