“Acceptance” A Creative Storytelling Challenge

In this piece, I decided to go a slightly more depressing route than I’m used to in my work to really challenge myself. Exploring the themes of grief and child loss in a young single father’s life, showing his final steps in his path of acceptance in his young child’s passing. I chose to make the colour palette begin in very cool dull tones, then lowly gaining brightness and colour as the panels go on. This was meant to symbolize the father’s acceptance of the loss.

“Farmer’s Daughter” Time travel through style portrait piece

In this piece, I decided to do a study on Vincent Van Gogh’s painting style. Depicting myself as a lovesick farmer, as he often painted fields and everyday people, including farmers, mostly. I also chose to do a master's study as my background, studying Van Gogh’s painting “Wheatfield with a Reaper.”

First Year Highlights

Getting to know everyone in the cohort was a huge highlight for me this year and getting to bond with new people everyday. I really enjoyed being able to meet such a diverse and accepting fun group of people and I can’t wait to see what the next three years holds for them!!!

I loved my creative thinking class, Sepideh’s lectures and assignments I found were super interesting, and i 100% noticed an improvement in my creativity. Seeing this class reflect within my work was a HUGE highlight for me!

My final highlight has to be learning about the illustration industry in specific, I really enjoyed hearing from Pascal and Shayne on how their careers unfolded and what to do and not to do to succeed or do well within the industry after graduation.
