Impossible Interview: Fiona Apple and Isaac Newton
This was a project for our IDES 132 illustration class. The assignment was inspired by Miguel Covarrubias's 'Impossible Interviews', which were illustrations of two famous people that would never be in the same room but are connected but who meet through a shared activity. I picked Fiona Apple and Isaac Newton who are baking an apple pie together.
My Best Friend
This was an oil portrait for IDES 131 in term 1. I loved getting the chance to work with oil paint, which is one of my favourite mediums. It was a strangely emotional experience and really lovely to get to paint a friend I love and haven't been able to see much recently.
First Year Highlights
One big highlight of first year is connecting with the people in our class. The people in this class are very nice and inspiring and I'm excited to continue these remaining three years with them.
I have really enjoyed getting to know a few students from 2nd, 3rd and 4th year. It has been awesome to get advice and insights on the program from them and getting to hear about their experiences. It has made me feel less overwhelmed about the upcoming years.
Another highlight for me was getting to know our instructors. Its really cool to have instructors with actual industry experience who we have so much to learn from.
