Sínulkhay and Ladders—Squamish designer Michelle Nahanee helps to decolonize IDEA21

Every year our 2nd-year students take on a project to help them understand the challenges of reconciliation in Canada. It is an opportunity to ask ourselves how we can become stronger allies for Canada’s Indigenous peoples. This year we kicked things off for IDEA21 with a visit from Squamish designer and workshop facilitator, Michelle Nahanee.

Eighth Annual Studio Gallery 3311 Show—IDEA Students mentored by Jeff Burgess

Jeff Burgess mentors four IDEA students in his studio one day a week over the summer which he's been doing for eight years now. The purpose is to create a body of small works that are then exhibited early in September where the students sell their pieces for reasonable prices. Check out the recent paintings by IDEA students Jominca J Engelbrecht, Nicole Shewchuk, Graeme Duckett (shown above), and Heather Haughn including photos from the show!
